Who Benefits Most from Drinking Lots of Water? We know, you have probably heard all about how drinking water is good for your overall health, but did you know that drinking water is also good for your dental health as well?

In fact, water does your mouth as much good as your body. Ever heard that drinking water keeps your teeth healthy? Keep reading for more information about water and your oral health.

The Benefits of Drinking Water

It goes without saying that drinking water helps your body and its cells stay hydrated. However, drinking water also helps your teeth, gums and mouth continue to stay healthy. First, when you drink sugary drinks such as soda, you are giving the bacteria in your mouth something to hold on to and feed off of.

But if you drink water throughout the day, you are helping to wash away some of the sugar and food from your teeth. This is especially helpful if you can't brush your teeth after lunch.

Second, drinking water helps to fight bad breath. Bacteria multiply quickly when your mouth is dry, so drinking water throughout the day helps keep bad breath at bay. Also, drinking water can help produce saliva that helps to wash out food particles that may cause bad breath.

Finally, drinking water is a good source of fluoride, which means you are drinking water that helps fight tooth decay and the beginning of cavities. Children, especially benefit from drinking water, because it helps strengthen teeth. Fluoride can also work toward remineralization, which means it works to strengthen your teeth, no matter what your age.
